Chief Executive attends launch of Life Sciences APPG

The relaunched All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Life Sciences held its inaugural parliamentary reception, bringing together MPs, Peers, and sector leaders to highlight the UK’s life sciences innovations.

18th February 2025

Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA) Chief Executive Hannah Davies attended the launch of the new Life Sciences All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on February 10 2025. The UK BioIndustry Association held a reception at the House of Commons to relaunch the APPG for Life Sciences. Together with industry and third-sector partners, including the NHSA, the event brought to life examples of UK healthcare innovation, alongside speeches from Professor Chris Whitty and APPG chair, the Rt Hon Kit Malthouse.

The APPG for Life Sciences exists to raise awareness and understanding of the valuable contribution that the life sciences sector provides to the health and wealth of the nation, as well as the important role of charities, industry and academies in supporting and funding medical research and commercialisation.

The APPG Secretariat is managed by a collection of charities, trade bodies and an academy. They include the BioIndustry Association (BIA), the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC), the British Heart Foundation, the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), the British In Vitro Diagnostic Association (BIVDA), the Academy of Medical Sciences, Cancer Research UK, and Versus Arthritis.
